Mission: Young Organizers United (Y.O.U.) is a group of high school aged youth from various backgrounds who are dedicated to strengthening multi-issue and multi-racial coalitions designed to overcome ethnic, and racial, mainly the racially disparate treatment in high schools.
Project: YOU set up listening sessions to get feedback from community stakeholders including teachers, students, administrators, parents, community leaders, and local elected officials.
Outcome: These sessions, conducted on Google Slides, helped paint a picture of the moment and identified common issues. Concerns ranged from technology challenges to depression and isolation. As we transitioned from identifying problems to creating solutions we centered on three themes we felt were broad enough to address all students regardless of social economic status.
