• Organizational Background: Council for A Better Louisiana is a nonprofit, nonpartisan statewide organization that works on issues in the public interest. It does this by raising citizen awareness, advancing sound public policies, holding government accountable, and fostering civic leadership. CABL values cultural diversity within its programs, and is dedicated to seeking and advocating for solutions that will move Louisiana forward. Participating in both prior MAA phases, CABL focused on providing candidates for statewide office and the LA legislature with accurate, salient information regarding academic assessment and the state’s accountability system.

  • Project: Through extensive research and documentation of the early history of Louisiana’s school accountability system, CABL created a case study of the Louisiana accountability system to provide a much-needed resource for current and future policymakers. CABL also worked with the Committee of 100 (C100), and the Public Affairs Research Council (PAR) to create RESET, a targeted, nonpartisan effort focused on four state policy issues: education, state finance, criminal justice, and transportation infrastructure.
