TOMTOD IDEAS
AKRON
Organizational Background: Programming for early adolescents is often an afterthought, even though research identifies the unique importance of this developmental stage. Since 2012, TomTod Ideas has countered this negative narrative with carefully crafted, developmentally aligned programming that has empowered more than 2,000 Stark County middle school students. TomTod helps students to explore their innate abilities, connect to their community’s possibilities, and apply what they learn toward community impact.
Project: TomTod worked with 72 young people during “Camp What If: Akron,” a three-week program linking middle schoolers to their community through immersive field experiences. Ultimately, these students explored, assessed, and ideated 12 unique ideas designed to help Akron grow and thrive.

AKRON, Ohio — It’s rare that children are asked their opinions. Even rarer, that they’re given a seat at the table to help solve a problem.
However, this summer, kids are being challenged to do just that.
News 5 takes you inside a camp specifically designed for middle schoolers, challenging them to be changemakers, part of our A Better Land series.
